The CCRG All Stars Debut Big at Midwest BrewhahaPosted: 06/11/2012On June 2 and 3, 2012, The CCRG All Stars made a grand debut at the third annual Midwest Brewhaha held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the U.S. Cellular Arena with hard-fought victories against the Minnesota Rollergirls and the Windy City Rollers. The action started on Saturday, June 2, as the CCRG All Stars (3E WFTDA, #14 DNN) challenged the Minnesota Rollergirls (2NC WFTDA, #13 DNN) in what started out as an eerie reminder of Charm’s Game 1 loss to Minnesota at the 2011 Women’s Flat Track Derby Association Championships. However, after trailing most of the game, the All Stars were able to pull out a last jam miracle that brought them the win, 174 to 168. Sunday, June 3, brought even more drama as Charm faced the Windy City Rollers (1NC WFTDA, #4 DNN) for a chance at redemption. These teams last met in a no-minors bout at the 2011 East Coast Derby Extravaganza, which ended in Chicago taking home a narrow victory. This time, the CCRG All Stars emerged victorious with their first-ever win over Windy City in a highly-physical game that ended 187 to 151. Therefore, Charm City has effectively crashed the WFTDA North Central rankings by defeating both of the region's top teams. The Midwest Brewhaha was created by the Brewcity Bruisers, also known as The Milwaukee Rollergirls, for skaters from around the world to maximize the opportunity for interleague play. This is the All Stars’ first appearance at the Brewhaha and the team’s first full-scale flat-track tournament of the 2012 season. Currently, the All Stars are undefeated in flat track and banked track play. The Charm City Roller Girls (CCRG) is Baltimore's only all-female flat track roller derby league. CCRG is a member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) and is proudly skater owned and operated.
