Where are the clinics?
Skateland North Point
1111 North Point Rd.
Dundalk, MD 21222

The rink will be open at 9:00 a.m. for signing in and gearing up. Clinics will formally begin at 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Who can attend?
Men and women age 18 or older who would like to increase their derby knowledge. Quad roller skates and full protective gear are required. All participants must sign an insurance waiver.

How much is it?
$35 per person in advance, $50 at the door. Admission for all four clinics is available online for the discounted price of $100.

Are these league tryouts?
No. Tryouts for the league start April 16, 2012. However, the skills taught here are useful for any person interested in joining the league.

Can my mom come take pictures of me?
No. We will treat these clinics like intense derby practices; therefore, we will not allow guests or photography of any kind. This should be a safe environment for skaters to experiment and get out of their comfort zone. Skaters should inform their guests that the venue will only be open for clinic participants and CCRG staff.

What should I bring?
- A full set of well-fitting protective gear, which includes elbow and knee pads, wrist guards, a helmet and a mouth guard. Quad roller skates are also required.
-A black shirt and a white shirt. Both shirts should have your name or number on them so that the coaches can identify you during the session and create groups if necessary.
- A happy attitude and patience. This is a setting where we play roller derby for the love of roller derby. All participants are participating to gain extra knowledge about the game, not to attack, belittle, humiliate, or otherwise seek to disrespect one another.
- A water bottle filled with the hydration beverage of your choice.
-Energy-building snacks to keep your muscles fueled throughout the clinic.

How is this going work?
Each class schedule is subject to the expertise of the CCRG coaches in charge. But, the basic structure will include derby building blocks that are congruent with the clinic’s focus. The Jammer and Defense Skills clinics may also include some scrimmage scenarios.

The fine print…
We skate per the rules outlined in the current Women’s Flat Track Derby Association rule set.
Participation is entirely voluntary and at one's own risk. EMTs will not be on hand, but there are several hospitals and fire departments in the immediate vicinity.

What can I do to help make this the best possible experience?
Please arrive on time. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. The clinic will start at 9:30 a.m. While it may be feasible to join the clinic in progress, it is disrespectful to the coach and your classmates to arrive behind schedule. Arriving at 9:00 a.m. should provide ample time to complete the paperwork and gear up.

When you arrive, please set your gear down and then come to the counter to sign in. Make sure that your business is in order (payment or payment receipt, waiver) PRIOR to putting on your gear. This will prevent us from having to delay the clinic start time. We must have everyone’s paperwork completed before we begin. A coach will lead a warm up as a foundation for the skills to come.

When skating, expect a wide range of abilities and experiences. Avoid taking advantage of people who may clearly be less experienced than you. A major incentive to attend these dates is to provide a low-pressure training ground for EVERYONE involved in roller derby. Remember, these dates are not bouts or mini bouts or even formal scrimmages. They are opportunities to learn. While we all love to push ourselves and our fellow participants to become better at roller derby, if you are disrespectful to any participant, you can expect to be asked to leave without refund. Please display your best sportsmanship and derby love at these events.

The coaches will provide time for cooling down and stretching before the completion of the clinic. However, out of respect for our venue, we need to vacate the rink by 12:45 p.m.
